Yes, she was lost, but the forest animals didn't get all stupid with her like her human friends. She made friends quickly and several of them had made guests rooms for her - she was lost for a very long time, you see. Most of the time she just traveled in circles, so they accommodated Snow whenever she would pass by. Poor girl, for the longest time, had no idea that she was lost. Most of her butterfly entourage became discouraged and flew back to the apple orchard. Some of them, however, simply found better things to do in the forest than to hang around Snow's head all day (it got old quickly for some of them) and were otherwise occupied with 'paying' jobs. Twinkle and Dee were the only loyal butterflies that stayed with Snow through it all - Twinkle slept on Snow's cheek at night (or whenever Snow would nap in the afternoon). The rest of the time, Twinkle would fly around looking for Dee who would, so often, get lost. Dee, the male butterfly that he was, was prone to wander too close to the dark side of the forest. I don't know if you have ever been lost in a forest before, but there is a light side and a dark side to every forest. The dark side is not as scary a place, as you would think. There are no boogie men or goblins or ravenous tree-hanging sloths or fire-breathing dragons or anything like that. It's just dark and, therefore, hard to see your way out when you get too far in. Dee liked to fly into the dark side of the forest because he was curious about all the stories he had heard when they first arrived in the forest with Snow - so long ago. Those unkind animals from the light side of the forest who spread those ridiculous rumors about those who lived in the dark side of the forest should have been ashamed of themselves because no one had ever proved that the dark-side animals were actually carnivorous. Besides, Dee didn't care about that. After all, he was just a butterfly. Who didn't like butterflies? One day there was a slight rain in the forest and it was hard to tell whether you were on the dark side or the light side of the forest. Dee had not intended to fly so far in to the dark side, but he found himself in such a darkness that he was unable to see his wings flapping. He started hearing noises, unfamiliar, eerie and louder than he thought they should be, even in the dark side of the forest. Now he was scared. A strong wind blew him backward and he must have hit a branch or a pine cone or something that knocked him off his flight pattern and he fell to the ground. Twinkle looked for him for four total hours, which is a very long time for a butterfly (even for a butterfly that in a fairy tale seems to live a long, long time). Finally, weary beyond belief and saddened beyond comfort, Twinkle flew back to Snow Waz, landed on her cheek and wept until morning. Meanwhile, during Snow's sleep, Snow Waz dreamed of her prince. In her dream her great prince had gone off to war to fight the Dreadfuls who hid in the dark side of the forest. Word had reached Snow that he had been captured and was to be tortured beyond recognition. They gave him one last request and he had asked to have word sent to Snow Waz that he loved her forever and to never forget the days they used to play together in their other dreams. The dream made Snow cry and her tears for her lost prince poured from her eyes and mingled with Twinkle's tears for her lost Dee. The next morning, Snow and Twinkle made a covenant to never cry over their male friends who would be stupid enough to go off into the dark side of the forest. Snow was becoming more beautiful everyday, by the way. Something about the forest, and things that happened in the forest, brought out the very best in her beauty. No one would notice, not even Twinkle, but she was becoming very beautiful on the inside. In other words, she was becoming a woman. Lost as could be, totally clueless which direction to walk, a rash in her crotch that was driving her mad, but, nonetheless, maturing. An old troll she met gave her something for the rash, so that was only a temporary glitch in her perfection. We all have those temporary glitches, you know? Chinks in our armor, so to speak. I wish I could take the time to tell you about all the adventures of Snow Waz and Twinkle, but that is a sequel yet to be imagined by yours truly. This story is about Snow Waz & the 7 Dweebs, so I must hurry her out of the woods. So, here she comes, exiting upon a clearing after following the stream that flowed with talking fish (thank God for talking fish). It may not seem possible, but the very moment she came into the open air fthe sky darkened - because Snow's beauty was brighter than the sun. (That would be a problem one day for some young man - most likely - because a man would be wise to follow the sun and not be turned away by beauty that fades - But, that will be many, many years from now - and, that is another story that needs telling at a later time). Anyway, at the very moment that Snow stepped out of the forest, her busted ankle was miraculously healed, so she ran as fast as she could across the open field of, I don't know, it must have been poppies or something (I'm not a horticulturalist or anything - could have been poison ivy for all I know - wouldn't have mattered if it were poison ivy, it would not have been able to poison her). She remembered all of her friends in the forest and stopped running, turning around to go back to the edge of the forest to say goodbye and thank you. The limbs of all the trees and bushes, and the paws and limbs of all the animals were waving at her. In unison they sang: "Run Waz! Run Away Waz! Run far away, Waz!" She would miss Twinkle more than anything. What would she do without her Twinkle? Even the most beautiful women are less than perfect without their faithful butterfly, sharing a cheek, sharing tears of laughter and joy. Today, Twinkle still lives in the hearts of beautiful people. I have always, I must admit and am not ashamed to say, wanted a butterfly tattoo to remind me that, in my past-maturing years, my Twinkle is gone. Good thing I still have my Tickle. Which brings us (and Snow Waz) to "The 7 Dweebs Inn."
