My Christmas Angel

I have an angel on top of my tree

She has wings that lift me, insisting that I stand tall

Watching over me, ministering to me –

calling to me to look up always

She outshines all the glitter and shimmer

of even the deepest friendships

She places new gifts under my tree

and I find just what I had in mind

Even before I approach begging

she understands my need and meets it

One thing I find the most amazing about her:

Would you think that angels could get more beautiful?

You would think that they were made perfect and lack nothing!

Then how come my angel, sitting there on top of my world,

Becomes prettier everyday?

I should be accustomed to her style, but, I’m not

She surprises me – insisting that I not expect it

But, like waking up from the best dream ever,

she blows it away with sweet reality –

I’m the luckiest of all survivors!

She is the Angel on top of my Christmas tree

I dropped her once and she broke – and, I cried

But, we turn that part toward the wall

It’s not important because in her greatest brokenness

Her beauty surpasses human perfection

I think, God forgive me, she is more perfect than any real angel!

Look at her!  Is there any way you could not admire

The angel who stays on the top of my tree?

I love you, Darcie
