DARK DAYS ARE FOR HIS GLORY!

Chapter 11

The Miracle of Heaven

"Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man all that God has prepared for those that love Him...."

Homesickness.

Do you feel fit for this world?  I bet you used to feel like you belonged here.  That was many years ago.  But, one day, probably during your adolescent years, something happened that made you wonder if you were supposed to be here at all.  Then, when you became a Christian you found out that the following was your new reality:  You were never meant for this world - your destiny and your true home is a place called heaven.  Isn’t it funny?  First, we try so hard to fit in, all the time wondering why we struggle so hard.  And, just when we settle into the fact that we are in this world and we might as well accept it, the Lord comes along and says that although we are in the world, we are not of it – we don’t belong here!

Now, if you are like me, you are desperately homesick for a place you have never been to and have only seen in your mind.  And, what it will actually look like when you finally get home is not even close to what you have envisioned.  The wonders of our true home are beyond our ability to understand.  I don’t even try anymore.  I have merely accepted that he has prepared (and is preparing until my final day on this earth) a place.  I don’t really think of it as a special place built just for me, as if I could earn a small slice of land in eternity.  I do believe, however, that “we” will inherit something that we can see and feel and taste and hear and experience.  I suppose that not even our present senses will be used in that place - there is a “sense” that is totally His Spirit and it sees, feels, tastes and hears in a way our normal senses cannot possibly imagine.

I have been missing my home since the first day I imagined it.  I remind myself constantly that, when the stupid things of this world weigh me down; when I blow it (over and over); when depression wreaks havoc on my mind and heart, that there is a place waiting for me.  In all my other worldly inconsistencies, I have, at least, learned to wait and long for that place.  I want to go home today, but I know the day of my home-going will be when He is ready for me.

Do you have that hope?  I tell you the truth, it doesn’t matter what anyone else may say about “one day at a time” or “live for today” or “counting your blessings” or any other empty phrase that would be designed to get you through the day, the only thing that really matters is that hope that is within you; to one day stand before Him and hear Him say “Enter in.”

Personally, I believe that I will get there simply because I long for it in the power and the name of Jesus.  I don’t believe that I have earned it.  In fact, the opposite is true.  I deserve heaven no more than the worst monster you could imagine that wouldn’t deserve it.  Could we begin to compare our good and bad deeds and try to determine which one of us would get to heaven?  Listen, if you want to compare, I have only one thing to say:  I lose!  I give up.  I’m a wretched man.  Thankfully, you don't get to pass judgment on who goes to heaven - neither, do I.  "No man man comes to the Father, except by Me," said Jesus.

Sorry to say this, but I do believe that Jesus was serious when he suggested that the man who beat his chest with frustrated guilt would enter into a place where the one who thinks he deserves it may never see, even though he stands near the door.

Jesus has prepared a place for you and me.  You and me.  We are both invited.

Will you go with me?

Here is Your Miracle:  The only Heaven that truly exists is the one that Jesus went to prepare for you.

In order to get there you have to know Him.  Read the book of John and you will discover who He is and you will long to be with Him.

The guarantee of miracles that I have been offering to you throughout these pages find their most complete expression in your knowing that the miracle of heaven can be lived out in your daily life and longing.
